“At Frankie Walter Peta we believe that sustainability of the coffee industry from end to end is as important as the quality control that goes into finding the perfect beans and pouring the perfect cup.”
Sustainability for us means farmers compensated at sustainable levels, beans sourced with open transparency, roasting partners who have the same ethos, an in-store experience that does the journey from bean to cup justice and reducing waste at every possible opportunity.
TRANSPARENCY - COFFEE BEAN SOURCING
We've partnered with Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters to bring you coffee from the most exciting parts of the world, in the most sustainable and transparent way. 'Roasting is subjective, but transparency is clear' - Seven Seeds have recently chosen to increase their transparency by publicly publishing their farmgate price. This price, which is higher than both the commodity and fairtrade price for coffee, is what it really takes to keep specialty coffee farms and the coffee industry sustainable. We believe it's worth sustaining.
ENVIRONMENT - RECYCLE, REUSE, REGROW
With environmental sustainability also at the heart of what we do, we are currently working with Reground to bring the concept of reusing coffee grounds to Freshwater Place. Frankie Walter Peta's used coffee grounds are being used to enrich community gardens all around the Melbourne city - we’re hoping that all cafe’s at Freshwater Place will soon be able to do the same.
MINIMISE WASTE WHEREVER POSSIBLE
We’ve recently switched our disposable cups to a recycleable version which can be deposited into any SimplyCup cylinder located in your office kitchen. By why not go one step further. We have a large range of KeepCups in store waiting to find a new home or alternatively please use our in-store Mug Exchange if you've forgotten your KeepCup.
